Life
LNCS(SW) MAUREEN A. OWENS-WORLEY, USN, RETIRED
Maureen Owens was born on September 24 in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from The Academy of Our Lady of Guam High School in 1980.
Maureen enlisted in the United States Navy in 1982 and attended boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida. She attended Yeoman "A" School in November 1982 and was accelerated advanced to YN3 as an honor graduate in February 1983. She served with Training Squadron TWENTY-TWO until her conversion to legalman in 1986. Maureen attended the Legalman Conversion Course and the Legal Officer Course at Naval Justice School, an honor graduate from both, while stationed at Naval Legal Service Office (NLSO) Newport, Rhode Island. Maureen was honored twice as Sailor of the Year while at NLSO Newport. She transferred to Administrative Support Unit, Bahrain in February 1990 where again she was selected as Sailor of the Year for 1991. Maureen transferred to Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Milton, Florida in May 1992. Maureen reported to NLSO Northwest in November 1995 where she served as Command Leading Chief, Defense Paralegal, Claims Department Head, and finally Command Chief during an 8 month gap in the Command Master Chief billet. She transferred to USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) in November 1998 as the Division Leading Chief until her return to NLSO Northwest in August 2001 as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commanding Officer until her retirement in July 2004.
Maureen worked as the Legal Support Administrator at the Fleet Logistics Center Puget Sound for 16 years in the Office of Counsel.
Maureen is now serving as the Military Justice Officer at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility.
Maureen was awarded an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Paralegal Studies from Highline Community College in June 1998, as one of the first three graduates of the Bremerton Program that she and RADM Bruce MacDonald initiated in 1996.
Maureen is married to HTC(SW) David K. Worley, USN, retired and they reside in Seabeck, Washington. They have two beautiful daughters and a host of animals on their beautiful little ranch.
